How to import a build into Minecraft Bedrock

Worlds open on Windows, Android, iPhone and iPad. Consoles can't import files.

World or schematic?

A world (.mcworld) is a flat creative world with the build already at spawn. It is the easiest way to see a build and works on every device that can open files. A schematic (.mcstructure) is just the build, for loading into a world you already have. Both are on every build page, or browse all worlds and schematics.

Windows

  1. Press Download world on a build page.
  2. Open the .mcworld file from your browser's downloads.
  3. Minecraft starts and shows Import started, then Successfully imported.
  4. The world is at the top of your Worlds list.

Android

  1. Press Download world.
  2. Tap the download when it finishes, or find it in Files under Downloads.
  3. Open it with Minecraft. The world appears in your Worlds list.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Press Download world in Safari. The file goes to Files, in Downloads.
  2. Open Files, then touch and hold the .mcworld file.
  3. Tap Share, then Minecraft. Minecraft imports it into your Worlds list.

Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

Consoles can't open downloaded .mcworld or .mcstructure files. Two ways around it: import the world on a PC or phone and upload it to a Realm (Realm settings, Replace world), then join the Realm from your console. Or import it on a PC or phone, open it there and join it from your console as a friend.

Load a .mcstructure (Windows)

  1. Open the world you want the build in and turn on cheats (world settings).
  2. Type /give @s structure_block in chat and place the block.
  3. Open it and set Mode to Load.
  4. Press Import and pick the .mcstructure file.
  5. Set the offset if you want it somewhere else, then press Load.

On Android, iPhone, iPad and consoles the structure block has no Import button. Use the world download there. Creators can put the file in a behavior pack at structures/bb/name.mcstructure and run /structure load bb:name ~ ~ ~. This is how the world download places the build.

If something goes wrong

  1. Import failed: update Minecraft to the latest version and try again.
  2. The file saved as .zip: rename it back to .mcworld (or .mcstructure).
  3. On iPhone the file opens as a preview: go back and use Share, then Minecraft.
  4. A block is missing: a few blocks have no Bedrock version and are left out.
