🔥 Torch OffHand

Carry your light wherever you go.

Torch OffHand adds portable lighting to Minecraft Bedrock. Supported light sources can illuminate around you while you explore caves, travel at night, mine underground or walk through dark areas.

You can use lighting from your main hand, offhand, and supported portable light items. The addon is simple to use by default, but it also includes a full configuration book if you want more control.

📕 Torch Config Book

Every player receives the Torch Config Book when entering the world for the first time.

The book lets each player change their own Torch OffHand settings without affecting everyone else.

The main menu includes:

General Settings
Light Sources
Light Distance
Presets & Reset
World / Admin Settings, only for admins/operators

Settings are saved per player, which makes the addon much better for Realms or multiplayer worlds.

Torch in Offhand

👤 Personal Settings

Each player can configure their own lighting.

Personal settings include:

Move Light to Offhand
Light Priority
Main Hand Lighting
Offhand Lighting
Place Torch from Offhand
Auto Refill Offhand
Only in Survival
Holding Sound
Show Lighting Lore
Show Status Messages

This means one player can use full dynamic lighting while another player can keep a simpler setup.

🌍 World / Admin Settings

World settings are for the host, operators or players with the admin tag.

These settings control what is allowed in the entire world.

Admins can configure:

Enable Dynamic Lighting
Maximum Allowed Distance
Allow Custom Distance
Allow Offhand Torch Placement
Allow Auto Refill
Default Preset for New Players

This is useful if you run a Realm or multiplayer world and want to keep performance under control.

For example, you can let players use Torch OffHand, but limit the maximum distance or disable Auto Refill for the world.

🔁 Auto Refill Offhand

Auto Refill is one of the most useful additions in V4.

When your offhand light item is used or runs out, the addon can automatically refill your offhand with the same supported light source from your inventory.

This is especially useful when placing torches from the offhand while mining or exploring.

Auto Refill can be:

Enabled or disabled by each player
Allowed or blocked globally by the world admin

If your offhand is occupied by another item, the addon will not replace it.

✋ Main Hand & Offhand Lighting

Torch OffHand can light up the area from supported items in either hand.

Main Hand Lighting

Enable or disable lighting from supported items held in your main hand.

Offhand Lighting

Enable or disable lighting from supported items held in your offhand.

Light Priority

If you have supported light sources in both hands, you can choose which one should be used first:

Prefer Offhand
Prefer Main Hand
Brightest Light

This makes the addon flexible depending on how you play.

🖐️ Move Light Sources to the Offhand

Supported light sources can be moved to your offhand without opening the inventory.

To avoid conflicts with normal block placement, the item moves to the offhand only when used while looking at the air.

Activation modes:

Use - use the light item while looking at air
Sneak + Use - sneak and use the light item while looking at air
Disabled - turn off this mechanic

🧱 Place Torches From the Offhand

You can place supported torches while they are in your offhand.

Use:

Sneak + Hit

This lets you keep your main hand available while still placing torches during mining or exploration.

You must have a supported torch in your offhand, and the option must be enabled in the Torch Config Book.

World admins can also allow or block this feature globally.

Each supported source can be enabled or disabled individually.

📏 Light Distance

You can choose how far portable lighting should reach.

Available presets:

Low - smaller distance, better for performance
Medium - balanced option
High - stronger lighting

You can also use Custom Light Distance for each source.

Custom values depend on the light item:

V4 adds quick presets for easier setup.

Performance

A lighter setup for Realms, mobile devices or low-end worlds.

Balanced

Recommended for most players.

Maximum Lighting

Stronger lighting setup for players who want the brightest experience.

Reset My Settings

Restores your personal settings back to the world default preset.

World admins can choose which preset new players should receive by default.

📖 Item Lore

Supported items can show lighting information in their lore.

When enabled, the lore can show the current lighting distance.

When disabled, Torch OffHand can keep supported it

No Experimental Features

You do not need to enable experimental gameplay.

Torch OffHand does not use player.json.

Multiplayer & Realms
